INSPIRATION // Frederic Edwin Church (1826 – 1900)

At a time when a bunch of clowns are running the world’s leading power—playing with our lives and with our shared mother, the Earth, to compensate for their own lack of substance—it seems essential to me to introduce you to the work of painter Frederic Edwin Church.

For over a quarter of a century, he painted and documented America’s most breathtaking landscapes—those same lands that the narrow-minded vision of a few wealthy individuals sees only as a source of profit.

Frederic, however, had a near-mystical approach to reality. His landscapes are sanctuaries, cathedrals where the light is always unique, where nature blinds us with its profound mystery. An approach I share and hope to convey here.

I have always believed that if we could truly sublimate nature, humanity might one day detach itself from this industrialized dopamine factory and find peace in the infinite mystery of what gave us life.
